Vascular plants were studied in 230 earthworks (remnants of primeval, early and late medieval cities) in Wielkopolska. 797 recorded species were classified with respect to their geography and history, biology, synecology and frequency of occurrence. A group of relicts of cultivation was distinguished; the state of knowledge of the group in Central Europe was presented, with details on their distribution, ecology, origin and useful features.
